Within one year, she secured a decent-paying career, paid off more than $10,000 in debt, built a one-month emergency fund, and was able to afford a two-bedroom apartment for herself and her children.

That experience reinforced a lesson her years in finance had already begun teaching her: financial security isn't simply about having more money. It's about having options.
